BOTOX  treats the upper one third of the face. It helps to reduce dynamic wrinkles that are caused from muscle movement including: horizontal forehead lines, creases between the eyebrows, and crows feet. Botox is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It binds to nerve endings in the immediate area and prevents the muscle from contracting. Even deep wrinkles will smooth out after consecutive BOTOX treatments. 

What to expect from BOTOX? A ten minute procedure with minimal discomfort and no anesthetic. It may cause slight bruising and the best results are seen in 2 weeks. The decreased muscle activity and therefore the effects last for 90 days.

DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal Fillers are soft tissue fillers that treat the lower one third of the face. This procedure shows immediate results and fills in the static wrinkles of the lower face including: nasolabial folds, marionette lines, superficial defects, fine lines around the lips, and can even add volume to the lips which enhances their size.  Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler. The body naturally makes hyaluronic acid, it is a volumizing substance in cells.

This procedure does require anesthetic and takes a little longer than BOTOX depending on the extent of treatment you would like performed.  Dr. Barbara will anesthetize the areas to be treated with both an intra-oral and extra-oral approach when necessary to provide you with the most comfortable experience possible.
